    I failed my test this past Saturday by 7 points. This is my third time failing since 2016😪 I don’t know what else to do, and whether I should just consider an entire diff career path. I studied my butt off, did fairly well on practice tests, and am beyond discouraged and depressed at this point. I’m in debt behind a degree that I can’t even put to use in its totality all because of this stupid test. Also, I can’t retest until at least another 3 months, because Pearsonvue makes you wait at least 90 days.

      I am sorry! I am certain this must be so very, very stressful for you. Let me try to be the "voice" of "calm" to you and consider this. While it must be very, very discouraging - and while it must feel defeating - the couple of hundreds of dollars to take the exam is the small, last bit of the many thousands of dollars you have invested. Even if you have to wait and spend money again - if you don't pass, your debt is for nothing. WHEN you do pass, your debt has meaning and can be paid off with what you earned! I'm truly sorry you are depressed and if you want to email me personally I'll be a kind, caring, confidence building voice for you! www.peaceandflourishing.com. I am for you.

      John ~. My apology that I don't remember this exactly and I know there is an exact answer. I think it is 4 hours total - and a person can finish as quickly as they like. If you'll listen to the video (which I'm not going to engage myself! ha!) I share that I took something like 120 minutes to complete the exam and then I took two strategic breaks over the next 120 minutes or so as I methodically went back through the exam. I hope this helps! I'm blissfully so far removed from the exam now that I don't have to retain all the specifics! ha! 🙂 ~ marty

      I'm so happy to reply, Julia. I wish you success. *** I read somewhere in a comment thread or something from Dr. Rosenthal, something about how he has resisted making his content in digital download, because of piracy. Sadly, he's correct! After I bought my copy of his work, I had a former student who is an audio expert, create a personal digital copy of Rosenthal's work for me to use as my private copy, since I had paid for the content. I don't know how to do this and had to have an audio expert help me. I wish Dr. Rosenthal would digitize his content, though, he's certainly correct that it would get pirated - such is the nature of a Napster and post-Napster world!

    I can not thank you enough for making this video. I am in the middle of a 10-15 page exegetical research paper doing everything you have described here, as an online theological grad student, and the paper is now officially 2 days late because I really struggled just even trying to "start" this one off. But because this video has given me an actual game plan to get this paper going, and completed, I feel so much better, even while turning it in late, because now I know I will be at least turning it in late with an 100% effort, that I did not have before hand, versus turning a paper in on time, that I had absolutely no confidence in, just to meet a deadline. Thank you Sir. Blessings,

      I am so happy for you! Did you see the questions in the attached doc - in the description? If a person answers even 1/4 of those questions - and just types out the answers - the content of an exegetical paper falls into place. And then, it's just explaining and making connections and drawing together your insight! I wish you GREAT SUCCESS! Be sure to see the doc - it draws together three sets of resources! So toggle the entire document! Wishing you sucess! ~ marty

The exam had a lot of stuff I didn't recognize but I knew enough about everything else to reason my way through to the right answer. Understanding the concepts and theories of psychology in general will benefit you just as much as memorizing names and facts. My overall experience, it wasn't that hard.

I can't give you a definite answer, and I'm sorry for your distress, though my guess is, at best, you'll have to add/take a course or two . . . though, if you completed an accredited program you *should* be okay. Correct, Tim, the NCE. I only took the NCE, though as I understand it, the NCMHCE is based on ten case studies and the test taker focuses on assessment, diagnosis, treatment and clinical practice. The NCE is more broad in scope, and covers more theory, history, and other issues within the 200 multiple choice questions.

    Is this a 4 hour long test?

    • @martymichelson
      @martymichelson 2 года назад

      Ha! Yes! In retrospect, I was a bit over-zealous on that repeated statement in my video! ha! I recorded this days after finishing the exam, after two solid months of daily study for hours . . . so I was still both celebrating my excitement at passing - and - "coming down off my adrenaline" of hours and hours of study in the previous 60 days, daily!

    Great Video! I have 1.5 semesters left of my counseling program so I am looking to start studying now. Planning to take the test shortly after graduation so this definitely helped me to gather all of my resources. Thanks for the tips!! Answered all of my questions.

    That’s so weird (and frustrating) that they don’t allow brain dumping. Seems like something that would be ok since it comes from…OUR brains 🤦🏾‍♀️.

      ha! yes! I agree, Kishon! And, technically, isn't the entire test a brain dump! ha! :-)

    You repeating the length of the test is stressing me out lol. I had to take breaks just watching this video. I am not good at studying and worse at test-taking. why cant we just write essays 😩

      Peace to you Tameika! If you'll listen to all that I share, with good preparation, the test can become for you as it was for me: 2 hours for answering every question, 1 hour to review many questions and a final 1 hour to review a few questions. Wishing you success! 100% !

    Thank you for the video. The only challenge I have is that vital information and review questions cd would not benefit me, because I am deaf. I cannot understand what it said. Is it possible for you to share the transcript of it with me?
